Article Summary

Customer data retention management:

Under the GDPR, personal data cannot be kept indefinitely.

For example, the contact details of a prospect who does not respond to any solicitation can be kept for 3 years.

Fastmag Boutique has set up a tool allowing the automatic configuration of the purge of the customer and prospect database.

This allows the daily deletion of personal data (purchase, use of gift card, returns ...) which will be anonymized.

What is anonymization?

Anonymization is a treatment that consists in using a set of techniques in such a way as to make it impossible, in practice, to identify the person by any means whatsoever and this irreversibly.

When anonymization is effective, the GDPR no longer applies to data thus anonymized, which is therefore no longer of a personal nature.

The module is accessible at a level 5 from:

Path: Management\Tools and Settings\System Settings\Databases

Client purge settings.

The menu is divided into two parts: customer and prospect. Activate the function by checking the box

Choose the number of retention years from the drop-down menu (from 1 year to 10 years). The calculation is done for customers on the date of the last sale and for prospects on the date of creation.

If a person is registered for the newsletter, this information will only be deleted if the box is checked.

The purge is started automatically every night at 23:00.

It is always possible in a customer's file to delete it and/or disable the opt_in.
