Q - Management of prepaid cards

How prepaid cards work

The prepaid card is a device that can store a certain amount of money in order to make payments directly. The balance of the card is decreased as it is used for purchases made in Fastmag.

Careful! 

The sale of a prepaid card will not be counted towards the store's turnover.

Prepaid cards are purchased by the customer and can then be  :

* Used in whole or in part.

* Be reloaded (when entering a card number already sold)

* Can be used with a physical medium (card with a code bar or number) or without support.

In the latter case, Fastmag generates an automatic random number.

It is strongly recommended to link the prepaid card to a customer's file.

1. Procedure prior to the sale

1. Setting the validity date in the folder 

Sign management / Tools and settings / System settings / General settings / File settings

From the folder settings, indicate the validity period of the prepaid card in days.

     2. Creating a prepaid card-type payment method

Management / Tools and settings / System settings / Stores / Payment method

Create a payment method , choose in Payment method the type of prepaid card

Put in the type of prepaid card the Fastmag type 

Indicate the account that will be credited when purchasing a prepaid card and register

Note:

It is not necessary to make this payment method visible for sale or to assign it to the store.

     3. Selling a prepaid card

Sales Menu

From the sales screen, select "Sell a prepaid card" from the "Other actions" drop-down list . 

In the prepaid card creation screen, beep the barcode of my prepaid card,   manually type the number or  generate a random number  in Fastmag.

* To generate a random number: click on "Generate a number for the prepaid card"

* To manually enter a prepaid card number: fill in the field and click " OK".

* To scan a barcode: the creation is automatic.

Enter the amount of the prepaid card and click on load card

Remark: 

If you enter the number of an old card, it will be possible to top up the balance of the previous prepaid card.

The number and amount of the prepaid card appear on the right side of the screen

Choose the payment method to pay for the sale and click Save

Select the payment method and  validate the sale.

Note

It is possible to sell products in the same sale of sales, in this case it will be enough to enter the method of payment after adding the items in the sale.

    4. Using a prepaid card

Sales Menu

Enter the items you want to sell and select "Use a prepaid card" from the "Other actions" drop-down list . 

In the prepaid card use screen, beep the barcode of the card and click on the view balance button

The prepaid card balance appears, enter the amount you want to use to pay for the sale and click the Redeem Card button

The amount used of the prepaid card appears in payment method on the sale.

Indicate the payment method in addition to the prepaid card in order to pay for the sale and register it.

Note: 

* If the amount of the prepaid card is equal to the amount of the purchases, it is sufficient to register the sale.

* If the amount of the prepaid card is less than the amount of the purchases, complete with another method of payment (cash, credit card, etc.)

* If the amount of the prepaid card is greater than the amount of the purchases,  the amount of the prepaid card adjusts automatically when the card is recalled in the prepaid card use screen.

* The balance of the prepaid card can be used in several installments.

   5. Accounting diagram for the management of prepaid cards

Reminder: 

The amount of sales of prepaid cards is not counted in the store's turnover.

The sale of a prepaid card is not subject to VAT
